About Lone Dingo
Lone Dingo was born from a passion for central Australia and the unique outdoor opportunities the central ranges and desert present.
That was back in 2001. At that time the now well known Larapinta Trail was incomplete, mountain biking was in its infancy and you could count the number of rock climbers in town on one hand. Nowadays Lone Dingo services a tight knit and enthusiastic outdoor community in the centre and thousands of visitors who come each year to trek, ride and explore the red centre.
Lone Dingo has moved, grown and evolved over the years but our key focus remains unchanged; being a proper technical outdoor store, staffed by knowledgeable outdoor enthusiasts and stocking only quality outdoor and travel equipment, clothing and footwear from the world’s best brands.
We stock gear that works for our region & similar regions around the world that have stinking hot summers & chilly winters.
We have also worked hard to put together all the right gear for the popular local trek, the Larapinta Trail. The Larapinta Trail presents unique challenges to standard bush walking gear and we’ve learnt from experience what works and what doesn’t.
When you Visit Lone Dingo our helpful staff will assist you in making your selection, but there will be no hard sell, no selling up, no hounding customers for a sale; it’s our mission to have customers select the right gear for the job & enjoy doing it. We treat customers as we would like to be treated ourselves.
Basically we want you to enjoy the outdoors and travel as much as we do.

What’s In A Name?
Anyone who has caught sight of a lone dingo moving stealthily in the outback, free of pack affiliations, comfortable in its surroundings, or heard its mournful howl at night cannot help but be inspired by this desert survivor. The lone dingo symbolises what so many of us are seeking when we head outdoors; isolation, intimacy with the environment, a simple existence, a better understanding of ourselves. The motivation behind so many of life’s journeys. The motivation behind Lone Dingo.
